  1. For context, Humza Yousaf’s position is now entirely dependent on how Ash Regan votes, assuming the Greens go through with voting against Yousaf in the VoNC.

  2. >Please, Ash – I was misquoted. I said ‘No! Great loss!

    Humza Yousaf.

  3. well well…if it isn’t the wheels of my own scooter giving way beneath me

being srs: i didn’t have ash regan being the sole decider on my 2024 bingo card

  4. If I’m ash I’m making him get down on his knees and beg for my forgiveness for this lol. Humza really has dug his own political grave.

  5. I’m completely failing to understand why delivering the SNP up their arch enemy, like Holyrood’s answer to JK Rowling, made any sense for the Greens at all. First thing she will ask for is concessions on the Green shibboleth of gender policy. And the alternative is an election that’ll put the SNP and Greens on a lower combined total of seats.

Harvie used to seem somewhat canny, but he seems to have gone completely off the deep end lately.

  6. Letter she sent to Yousaf with her resignation: White.

  7. > I can give you a guarantee that people did not vote for Ash in her constituency because of any personal vote, they voted for her because she had the SNP logo next to her name in the 2021 election.

How many of those people who voted SNP across the entire country would have done so, knowing the absolute shit show the Yousaf administration would have in store for them? Continuity Humza has some cheek here.

    > If she had principles she would do the right thing and resign – but I have to say it is no great loss to the SNP

Hard to agree with that when there seems to be a genuine feeling that she didn’t really leave the SNP, they left her, and presumably many people who prioritise independence more than the GRR etc.

But nevertheless this is very funny and I wish them both all the best.

  8. There’s a lot of people trying to say that the SNP are now dependent on how Ash votes in order to get things through, but this isn’t really the case. The SNP is divided, there’s a UK election coming up, and now that the agreement with the Greens is over, very possibly a Scottish election coming sooner than we expected.

In a situation like this, the SNP is more at risk of losing votes from rebellions and factions within its own party than it is to be totally aligned on everything in such a manner where Ash Regan can ever be a deciding factor in anything.

You guys are also forgetting that Labour and Lib Dem don’t oppose every single thing the SNP does. Both parties voted in favour of the Gender Reform bill for example.

The SNP’s latest focusses have not proved nearly as popular with the general public as they had hoped. The embezzlement crisis within the party has also made them look like bad actors and has lost them a lot of credibility. They are aware of both of these things. They want to stay in power. So it is quite probable that we may be about to see quite a shift in SNP structure and politics.

I used to vote for the SNP, I don’t anymore. I would consider voting for them again if they visibly start to make a focus in a more positive direction in terms of economy and independence. Wages are lower in scotland than in England but our taxes are higher and our brackets start at lower salaries than in England, seems a bit silly. There are many of us who feel they have in-effect abanadoned the goal of independence are not working to deliver it. A large amount of us voted for the SNP with that as our primary or sole issue in mind and they would do well to remember to stay focussed and loud about the primary issue.
