Have a look at the affordable housing scheme. The government puts up 25%, IIRC, and the starting price of the houses is 250,000, in Waterford anyway.
“Here’s your affordable housing, that’ll be 370K for a house, your maximum allowed combined mortgage is 180K, have fun” – the government.
What does it say? It’s behind a paywall

I earn to little to afford a mortgage for an affordable house , yet too much for a council house .
I cant even dream of an actual house from the market .
