An investigation is underway after a video appearing to show a member of staff at a west Belfast grammar school swearing aggressively at a pupil circulated online.
The video – filmed at St Mary’s Christian Brothers’ Grammar School on the Glen Road – appears to show the member of staff behaving in an aggressive manner towards a pupil.

"What do you wanna do? Cut the f*****g attitude and do ten push-ups,” the staff member is heard to say.

The school said the member of staff has been suspended while an investigation is carried out.

"As soon as we became aware of this incident, we immediately commenced an investigation,” said a spokesperson.

"A member of staff has been suspended while the investigation is ongoing and we are providing support to the pupil involved.

“The care and well-being of all our students is our priority and this isolated incident does not reflect the standards and ethos within our school."

  6. My old school. Back in the day, a few proper batterings were handed out by the teachers there. It was seen as a normal, everyday hazard. Great times :o)

  7. Yes the answer is to treat teenage boys with kidd gloves so they won’t be scarred. Be nice to them and they’ll show you respect. Bollox. let their ma’s be nice to them. In school you have to keep them on a very short leash.

  10. Went to this school up a few years ago and it was already a shitshow. They’re quick to suspend him for this (though i bet the kid was an arsehole like most of them) but yet there were some stories i heard and seen which were true horror and the staff ignored those. Guess a camera does it..

  11. An improvement on thirty years ago, when the pushups would be carried out completely naked, in the locked storeroom with the teacher underneath you.
