In that type of pattern it is mapping something or performing search and rescue operations using specific equipment in the plane. That type of aircraft can be gutted to hold the mapping equipment and is very stable and still hold four people. We use the same type in the SAR group i am involved with.

Checking everything is as it should be lol. It’s to check for any structures that haven’t permission to be there I think. I could be wrong.
Probably doing Data Capture for analysis using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.
