I generally don’t understand how experts, judges, law enforcement on both side say democracy is at risk and then ask what are we going to do about it? And then just let Trump continue to do whatever he wants with no consequences

Biden needs to make it clear he will abuse the fuck out of immunity if it’s granted to him. He also needs to pardon himself for something just to get that issue resolved.
The Supreme Court is deciding if Trump can act like a dictator or not.
Not buying it. I think at minimum the four female justices and Roberts will go with no immunity. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, if I had to pick, will also side with those five. My prediction is 7-2 with the two most worthless justices we have ever had (okay maybe a slight exaggeration) dissenting.
If he is given immunity then Biden needs to take him, all the justices and the Republican party and just ship them all off to Getmo! I mean he’ll have immunity too, right?

As a non-american, I feel that if he’s allowed to walk, and you all don’t take to the streets in anger, you’re all screwed, and then a lot of other countries as well.

The question here is – if the Supreme Court explicitly agrees that it is legal for Trump to murder Biden as long as it’s an “official act”, then what does Biden do about this? He is in danger of being executed…. legally, if he loses the election. Even worse – he’s safe from execution if he strikes first. This isn’t a safe precedent. No sane American wants our politics to be legally settled through violence.
This isn’t a just a hypothetical scenario, Trump HAS used violent allies to form a lynch mob against Pence. Why wouldn’t he do that at Biden’s residence? Or Hunters? If Trump is given immunity, then elected again. They’re all one social media post from a legally protected execution followed by a legally protected pardon… which again, not merely hypothetical, but part of a pattern of historical behavior. Trump has pardoned criminals who have committed crimes on his behalf AND promises to continue to do so for Jan 6 people including those same people chanting “hang Mike Pence” while rampaging through the capitol in search of their target.
I do not believe the court will vote for immunity. But if they do, then Biden can jail Trump and remain in the White House. After all, he would have immunity.
We must defeat him again at the ballot box.

In a sense, an absolute caricature like Trump causing the fall of the US is poetic. Not that it will make it feel any better for us, but future generations will get a great cautionary tale out of it, I guess.
