My swedish friend is coming over in a few weeks to spend a couple of months bringing her family as a guest of mine to ski at my house in whistler , Canada.
Previously when she worked out here 10+ years ago, there was an amazing thing where she called moose as “mouse” instead… It was a running joke with the language difference and the young kids she coached at the club loved it, and also her as a coach.
I want to make up a nice sign for her, and want it to convey the correct meaning as much as possible. And get it made up and presented to her.
Basically to take a picture like posted in the thread, and make into a sign that’s have the best Swedish words that make sense , to say “beware of the mouse” , of something that would translate well into Swedish
Thanks in advance for your help /r/Sweden !
And if any of you ever come to whistler, message me and let me show you around and ski a few runs on the mountain.
Se upp för möss
Varning för musen
Varning för mus and draw a vagina in a red and yellow triangle warning sign. She’ll understand.
Nvm I’ll explain. 1) Warning sign. Always funny. 2) Varning för mus = Beware of (the) mouse, phrased as you would phrase it on a warning sign. Mouse = mus in Swedish. 3) Mus = not only mouse, also slang for cunt.
So basically you make fun of everything she said and ends by calling her a cunt.
Varning for algen. Without the “pricks” on the ä it translates to “beware of the algae”.
You could also go with “varning för møøsen” which has many layers of more or less subtle humour. “Møøsen” could be read as “mössen” which means “the mice”. Swedish uses ‘ö’ not ‘ø’ like the Danish (and we love to hate on the Danes). It is also a Monty Python reference.
