Don’t credit Trump. Trump inherited a growing and healthy economy (which President Obama repaired after the Great Recession). In contrast, Biden entered office with the world economy in crisis mode. does anyone really believe that a government led by the likes of Trump would have done better?

Presidents are not gods, and political tribalism likely won’t help our pursuit of economic understanding. Please understand that the executive branch is much larger than one individual and much smaller than our government at large, and also understand that external forces are unimaginably more complicated than most realize. By and large, there will be administrative differences, but our government is evolving. When it comes to economics, try not to focus on the individual and look instead firstly to macro drivers of monetary policy and secondly to macro drivers of fiscal policy.
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”
Trump is a master at this.
