For me it's that Erling Haaland is quite rubbish, don't get me wrong he is good but he simply cannot peform against the good teams, for example Liverpool or Arsenal he ghosts with ratings of like 5-6.0 but against Luton town, he scores 5 goals and gets an 10.0. Another point to say is that he needs to learn to use his right foot, it's a main reason why he isn't scoring more than he should. An example of him not appearing in those big games was against Real Madrid, his best chance hitting the crossbar and recieving a 5.0 rating based off Goal.com, what are your guys opinions on this and what's your other hot takes?

  1. IMO he’s not been clinical enough in front of goal. That’s something he can be criticised for. But him going missing in big games because he has a defender or two breathing down his neck is not an issue at all

I mean, if he’s not worth it, why should he be marked tightly in big games?

  2. The only thing stopping Arsenal from winning the league is themselves. City haven’t been on or anywhere near our level in general but Arsenal’s bozo genes are too strong. I can count almost 10 significant easily mitigated self-sabotage moments that have directly impacted results and lost us points. We are as good as City and Liverpool at their peak but they managed games better.

VvD is not in any conversation for top CB. He’s not even top 5 anymore. Had enough of listening to Liverpool fans call him PotS a month ago for Alisson and Salah saving their season up until that point.

  3. I get your point, but rubbish? 21 goals in 27 PL games. Salty take.

  4. Didn’t he score against Liverpool this season? And get two assists and a goal against Arsenal last season? I swear people act like a comparably superstar player (like Mbappe) would be scoring against Saliba/Gabriel, VVD/Konate, or Rudiger week in week out, which just is never going to happen, especially when there’s a ton of leniency given to how CBs handle Haaland.

Edit: Like another commenter said, you can criticize Haaland for not being clinical enough this season. But the standards are insane to me

  5. I guess I have to counter your Haaland point although I am not City fan.

    – Broke prem record for goals scored at the age of like 21
    – Broke record for most goals scored in all comps by premier league player
    – Fastest person to score 50 goals in premier league
    – Youngest player to score 40 goals in champions league
    – Fastest player to score 40 goals in champions league
    – Consistent top goal scorer in the premier league from the age of 20.

Dude is like 23 years old and outscored everybody and has consistently been on top since he arrived. We can call him rubbish all we like but players go in and out of form and carry injuries, it’s pretty normal. He is the leading scorer at the moment for this year too.

I think calling Haaland rubbish is a little bit ridiculous. He is good at what he does – shoot from inside the box and it gets him goals and goals win games.

Most players don’t even peak until they are like 28 years old or something like that so I think it’s a pretty harsh take.

  6. My hot take is he is up there with Henry, Rooney, Shearer, Drogba, Kane etc

    He is world class

  7. Not sure if it is a big hot take but i think Ollie Watkins has been the best player in the premier league. He, very much like Harry Kane last season is going under the radar for the stats that he has put this season with Aston Villa.

  8. Every PL club analysed and discussed

Man City – still the best but not nearly as pretty to watch as last season but only Arsenal have had the legs to keep up

Arsenal – took there time to get up to speed, whatever happens they’ve had another great season

Liverpool – started to stutter when it really matters most, Klopps fairwell ends with only the league cup party

Aston Villa – CL spot was always a possibility, there best players have stepped up to the challenge 👏

Spurs – better than last season and better to watch..if they can work on things they do badly (defend set pieces) and get summer recruitment right, they could be cooking

Man United – good debut season for ETH followed by a mediocre season both domestically and in Europe (4th in CLGS) Mainoo and Gernacho look to have a bright future but would beating rivals Citeh in the FA Cup final save ETH from the chop ?

Newcastle – tipped em for a surprise title challenge after smashing Villa week 1…took there time to get up to speed…but there CL venture was bitterly disappointing

West Ham – surprised Hammers fans demand Moyes is replaced after the heroics of last season…done another steady job this term..8th place seems about right

Chelsea – very very slowly getting there…done well in the domestic cups but fans would have preferred higher in the league, gave City 3 very tough games ?

Bournemouth – they’ve improved as the season went on, with a late unlikey European push from out of nowhere ?

Wolves – no thrills no spills middle of the road after the summer uncertainty from Wolves fans and the players who exited

Brighton – are they gonna suffer the same fate as So’ton…when computer stats start bringing in duds ? They’ve steadily dropped off

Fulham – life without Mitrovics goals hasn’t been too bad..but a slight dip on last season all the same

Palace – GRIM few months for Hodgson..new gaffer new ideas and never likely to go down with the likes of Eze and Olise

Everton – better than position suggests (currently 4th best PL defence) not much going forward though

Brentford – missed Toney for half the season, I think Brentford could struggle next season when he’s likely to leave..not sound defensively this time out

Forest – Wood has been in good scoring form and Gibbs White has been involved with everything Forest’s had going for em…if not this season then probably next for the drop

Luton – they can still stay up, rooting for em..but just shows the gap between PL and Championship is actually getting alot bigger

Burnley – forgive me Burnley fans but i expected nothing less than midtable security with this daring young side..could still stay up

Sheff Utd – bloody hopeless at this level…the fact a blind ticket holder left a game only 5 minutes in…tells the story of there season…Sean Bean not proud!

  9. I still think Arsenal would be a better team with someone like Watkins or Toney up front instead of Havertz.

  10. Liverpool is a confidence team and their game plan has been found out by PL teams.

  11. Michael Oliver has been City’s most important man this season.

  12. The reason Liverpool has fallen off this hard is because Nunez needs 15 big chances before he scores.

If he converted half his chances he’d score 40 a season and you cant win with a striker like that.
