  1. Any that leave Portsmouth Harbour going the wrong way. Lovely views of the Solent.

  2. I’ve seen similar views at points when heading down to Truro/Cornwall.

  3. Frankfurt to Köln. The “slow” train that follows the Rhein.

They have built the sprinter line – 300kph in silent comfort.

No view though. The “slow train – only 199kph” is much better.

  4. Any that pass through the Edinburgh to Aberdeen line, just south of Montrose station at Montrose basin at low tide.

  5. Not quite as beachy, but when I lived west of Glasgow towards the coast and got the train to Glasgow for work, there was a similar view of the river & hills across it. I miss it.

  6. Hull to Selby/Leeds, on a summers day, the Humber looks magical.

  7. Carmarthen to Llanelli. East Coast Main Line north of Newcastle.

  8. Lol I want to know the backstory to this one. Someone doesn’t believe someone else is where they say they are

  9. Gloucester to Cardiff, some incredible views skimming the banks of the Severn

  10. Riviera Line from Paignton to Exeter, and the line from Barnstaple – Exeter – Exmouth

  11. In the north, Carlisle – Lancaster with a quick switch over at Oxenholme. Although the five minutes from Kendal – Windermere are quite nice too. South I would say St Ives for nice views. Honestly the Lake District open top tour buses are some of the best views in my opinion though if you stop for a day out.

  12. That reminds me of going up to Carmarthen from Llanelli.

But what others have said also apply: up to Harlech, the south coast past Exeter, north of Lancaster; the Highlands.

  13. Looks like the line that runs past Conwy castle

  14. Bakerloo line, when I close my eyes and imagine myself somewhere else

  15. Derry to Belfast. The train hugs the coast for a lot of the journey.
