Could someone please translate this text from 1815? Not sure if its entirely German

  1. The stamp reads “Adgaaet af”, the aa being the equivalent of the letter å, which exists in Danish, Norwegian and I believe Icelandic as well. “adgået af” means “accessed by” in Danish, so my best bet would be to think the rest is a location or division somewhere in Denmark.

Danish and Dutch by the way read very similar, if I hadn’t been familiar with the language to some extent I would have guessed Dutch as well, just like /u/SophisticatedVagrant.

Maybe ask over in /r/denmark or /r/copenhagen. Oh and might as well see what /u/thesportspanda thinks – the only Dane I happen to know 😛

Edit: The second word could be “til” (to), and the last one seems to end in “…bibliotek” (Library). Maybe Hitlerbibliotek? But that’s a stretch already.

Edit 2: Hitlerbibliotek doesn’t make sense in 1815, forget that.

  2. Kiøbt til fyens stiftsbibliothek 1815. Bought for Fyn’s Stift (regional administrative area) library 1815. Fyn is the island that the city of Odense lies on in Denmark.
