Ukraine is defying the US over strikes on Russian oil refineries. Experts say it’s a necessary risk.

1. There’s little evidence that the US is trying to dictate targets.

2. The USA’s statements over the refinery strikes were token condemnations. In other words, they were statements put out merely for them to dissociate from any idea that they were masterminding or materially collaborating in planning the strikes.

   And it’s not like the USA had legitimacy to speak on the matter since additional aid was stalled with no known end in sight. Furthermore, the recent vital aid bill came through w/o any additional statements on the matter so I’m further doubtful to the seriousness of past claims.

3. What a bullshit headline. The US doesn’t control Ukrainian targeting decisions. They do as they please and the US doesn’t tell them how to defend themselves unless they ask for advice or training. The US is a partner, not a dictator.

6. Necessary risk? For who? For Ukraine targeting these refineries are legitimate military targets that help them in their fight against Russia. What these western officials are say it risks affecting their economies and thus their re-elections. This is not a risk for Ukraine, these targets provide long term rewards for Ukraine strategically. Western leaders need to quit being pansies and let Ukraine do what is needed to win. The only reason Ukraine has not directly targeted Russia’s oil transport and production facilities is the western leaders more concerned with their own personal politics. Frankly Ukraine should target the oil too. Yes it will get more expensive and raise costs in the rest of the world but I am willing to endure that cost if it helps Ukraine win, and it will. Quite holding them back.

8. Ukraine needs to do what it feels is in its best interest.

   I understand about the US not wanting Ukraine to use US weapons inside of Russian borders; but if Ukraine has made its own drones that can reach strategic targets wherever they may be–that’s Ukraine’s decision.

9. The war must become too expensive for Ruzzia. If not in human lives(because they dont care), then in rubles.
