If my knowledge gained from many years of research gathered from the Discovery channel is correct, I believe this is Roman technology acquired from an Extra Terrestrial intelligence.
I’m still not over the Dial of Destiny. Please give Indy a break.
I think they’ve found over 100 of them, mainly in UK, France, and Germany. One theory I’ve see in they are an example of work by a craftsman, like a modern day CV.
Are all the holes different sizes? My first thought was that it was some kind of guage or measuring device, used for measuring the thickness of a rod.
Maybe… it’s for measuring portions of spaghetti.
I’m sure I saw somebody found it was very useful for knitting socks and gloves
It’s a dodecahedron with 12 gloryholes.
A dodickahedron, if you will.
pretty sure these were to help oracles perform rituals. inside would be messages like ‘outlook not so good’.
People had more time on their hands and someone was bored and wanted to see if they could?
Boredom is where a lot of both good and bad things come from.
The different size holes and this being Roman leads me to believe this is used to measure portions of pasta.
Clearly the little knubbin’s are supposed to go up your arse, rest is decorative.
Roman [bumble ball](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumble_Ball?wprov=sfla1)?
Probably something mundane like a fancy candle holder
This is a protype for one of those jiggly ball things
I remember reading some where that is is. Acually a knitting machine
Could it just be quirky art?
It looks really cool tbh, wouldn’t mind that having space of a shelf in my place tbf…
Isn’t this what you put multiple fossils in in order to try and determine the outcome of the craft?
please open a portal, please open a portal, please open a portal!
I want to leave this place
Didn’t they work out that this was for repairing knitted items, darning holes?
Looks like a game to me. Spin it with a certain sized ball inside and hope it stays inside the device.
It’s a d12. The romans obviously liked to play as barbarians.
I have one like this… each hole corresponds to the amount of spaghetti you need to cook for X people.
The Roman’s were Italian so it’s pretty obvious
All the theories, people say knitting etc, but these items are extremely rare, I would expect far more of them for a lot of the theories
I mean what happens in 2 millennia when archeologists are finding china Beagles on the site my nan used to live at. Did these people worship the beagle?
Looks kinda like a Luxon beacon to me.
Try concentrating on it for a minute.
So I see none of you have played the Wolfenstein reboots and for that I am judging you. That’s Da’at Yichud technology, that is. https://youtu.be/Kqn9GTEai7g?si=w4q3dvByLlU9Qtdj
Did they not figure out that it was for knitting glove fingers?
It’s a Roman aerialator used to dispense aerial liquid in a washing machine.
Solved!
That is clearly SCP 184, let’s just hope they like the Lincoln Museum a bit bigger on the inside
I think it’s an early one of [these.](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166050451484)
Obviously, 1700 years ago, humans had only discovered round shapes and hadn’t moved onto stars, etc
Possibly stupid question but has anyone suggested it might be a part of some kind of calender. Didnt the Romans have a 12 month calendar and all the holes are a different size suggesting some way of distinguishing them
This is a sex practice toy. Everyone inserts their penis. King first then down the ladder.
Very similar to how they use to wipe their asses in Rome with the same wiping stick.
I mean, we all saw Aquila, right?
It’s clearly a spaceship
It’s probably a craftsman’s way of proving they’re good and worth hiring. Nothing more. I suspect at the time building something like this is wasn’t easy and required some skills they were obviously looking for
It’s clearly a lantern of sorts, not a time machine.
“People are gunna find this in 2000 years and be like wtf is this thing? lol. Anyway put it back up my ass.”
None have been unearthed in Italy or other parts of Roman ruled Souhern Europe / Middle East/Egypt. Is it possible they’re a celtic thing? It looks like they were found in regions with significant celtic populations.
EDIT: Ah just read a piece which suggests as much.
I know what it is,It’s used to craft an item with 4 fossils ofcourse
