  1. “Fallout” is proving to be far from a (nuclear) bomb for Amazon’s Prime Video.

According to the streamer, the series pulled in 65 million viewers in its first 16 days of availability, with the first season dropping in its entirety on April 10. That makes it the second most-watched title ever on the platform and the most-watched title since the debut on “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” back in 2022.

Amazon also says the show is its most-watched ever among adults 18-34, with 60% of the show’s audience coming from outside the United States. In particular, the UK, France, and Brazil have all proven to be hub’s for the show’s popularity. It should be noted, however, that Amazon has not released any data on how viewers are counted, especially when it comes to completion of the show. Therefore, it is unknown if a viewer is counted once they have completed a single episode, multiple episodes, finished the season, etc.

The show has also proven to be popular with critics, holding a 94% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In her review for Variety, Aramide Tinubu wrote, “Bizarre but intensely fun, ‘Fallout’ is like nothing you’ve ever seen; for that reason alone, you won’t be able to turn away.”

Amazon has already renewed “Fallout” for Season 2. Based on the video game franchise of the same name, the series is set two hundred years after the apocalypse. The official description states it follows “the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters that are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind—and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.”

Ella Purnell stars in the series along with Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Walton Goggins, Moisés Arias, Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan, and Xelia Mendes-Jones.

Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are the creators, executive producers, and showrunners. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy executive produce via Kilter Films, which is under an overall deal at Amazon. Athena Wickham of Kilter Films also executive produces along with Todd Howard for Bethesda Game Studios and James Altman for Bethesda Softworks. Amazon MGM Studios and Kilter Films produce in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks.

  2. Best video game tv show I’ve seen so far, got me back into the old games and looking up fallout lore and YouTube videos so I can get all the references in the show

  3. Played fallout 4 again yesterday and it was a real nostalgia trip. Hope they remaster 3 as it was the best imo

  4. I’m on episode 3 and finding it hard to get into. Not a lot of dialogue, action/plot is strange, not really funny or dramatic…maybe it makes more sense if you’ve played the game.

  5. The atmosphere of this show is really unparalleled. They expertly created the Wasteland atmosphere present in all the Fallout games.

  6. Yooo this show is really good, I recommend. GJ Amazon was suprised by twisted metal and now fallout love the theme.

  7. I’ve played since Fallout 2 and this show feels like an addition to the game franchise lol. It was really well done and immersive. I’m not a big movie/show guy at all.

  8. Adapting video games might be the next new thing since MCU is on its way out. We’ve had The Last Of Us which was phenomenal, Fallout, and Army of the Dead which was good, too. There could be so many more.

Reading used to be the big thing and many books were turned into movies/shows, now everyone plays video games so they’d love to see how they be made into a film

  9. The set design was incredible. Love all the physical practical items

  10. Love the Fallout support. The games are awesome. The show is awesome.

Fallout 5 might be 10 years off, but once mod support gets patched up keep a lookout for Fallout London & Fallout Miami. I believe someone is recreating Fallout 1 and/or 2 in Fallout 4 style. Just look up the projects on YouTube. Hopefully the wait won’t be long.

There will be a lot of content. The people who make mods are vault dwelling angels.

  11. Disney should have hired Nolan to do the sequel trilogy.

  12. I have to say I have probably a unique perspective on this. I don’t game but watched HOURS of my ex play this. I’m into jigsaw puzzles and I generally don’t care what’s on in the background when I’m doing them. Games with decent content were generally preferable and any of the fallout games were among some of the top content:

Having watched (but never played) so many games and then gone on to watch them, this is SO MUCH like sitting and watching someone play the game. From that perspective alone it’s just phenomenal. It’s probably just a great show all on its own.
