  1. *A man has been arrested following a ‘serious incident’ at Hainault Tube Station .*

*The station, which is at the end of the Central Line in Redbridge, can be seen surrounded by emergency services, including a police helicopter.*

*Reports on social media suggest a number of people were attacked with a large knife outside Jet Petrol station.*

*A video appears to show a man walking near the station with a long blade.*

*Redbridge Borough Police said: ‘Police are at an incident in the Hainault area.*

*‘Please follow the instructions of police officers on the ground.*

    *‘A man has been arrested.’*

*TfL said: ‘This station is closed due to a police investigation in the area.’*

*A witness told* [*LBC*](https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/serious-incident-hainault-station-stabbing/)*: ‘There was loud shouting outside my road on Laing Close and a young boy stabbed another guy, then went towards the station.’*

*Another described the scenes as ‘chaos’.*

  2. There’s numerous videos over twitter of a man in a yellow hoodie wielding a sword / machete in a residential area

For some odd reason the usual far right commentators are all over this.

Fiver says he’s white, British and mentally ill.

  3. Only reason my mum wasn’t at the station at the time was because she had to take my sister to the dentist today. Thank fuck

  4. 4 people stabbed including police officers. Interesting how quiet this sub is today on this though

  5. Looks like he might just be looking for whoever it was who decided lids should stay attached to bottles?

  6. Might be terror related… Oh wait for get that it’s a white guy, let me guess he’s got mental health issues. 😒

  7. As ever the post is full of comments about the skin colour of the attacker.

  8. Question from genuine ignorance – the police have said this is not terror related, but at what point does someone going mental attacking people with a sword become terrorism?

  9. 3 hours up, less than 200 comments. I wonder why the low engagement 🤔

  10. Hainault is so far out, its practically Essex, weird to see this type of thing out in the sticks

  11. Inspired by /u/LieutenantEntangle’s [comment from last week](https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1ca9oe0/horrific_moment_yobs_fight_with_swords_and/l0qie2j):

    >[It’s not like we have weekly sword fighting on the streets](https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1ca9oe0/horrific_moment_yobs_fight_with_swords_and/l0qkbfb/)

    /u/LetsPlayAwfully, last week

    >[Lets see so this article says “reports of a disturbance and people in possession of knives” no mention of machetes anywhere and zero evidence shown. Later goes on to say “One teenager was taken to hospital for treatment to a hand injury and has since been discharged.” Honestly sounds like fuck all happened; just some rubes sucked into a over-sensationalised headline because they lack critical thinking lol](https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1ca9oe0/horrific_moment_yobs_fight_with_swords_and/l0qvvlh)

/u/SirCliveWolfe, enough evidence of machetes/swords yet?

  12. And now it has been reported that a 13 year old kid has died.

Screw all of you using this to score political points.

  13. The Metropolitan Police said officers are not looking for more suspects and the attack ‘does not appear to be terror related’.

Absolutely no terror here. Guy looks white enough to have some mental health issues. Give him a few months suspended sentence and some SSRI’s he’ll be reet.

  14. The rabid excitement from little dweebs because this time it wasn’t an islamic fundamentalist

    Gross

  15. The thing I can’t get my head around, is that recently there was a news story saying violent crime has halved in recent years in the UK, but it just doesn’t feel that way. To me, things feel worse than they did 10 years ago, but statistically I know they aren’t. Serious crimes like this surprised me in the past, but now I’m sad to say, but feel a bit desensitised to it all.
