Why does Sunak’s £900 tax cut claim keep getting fact-checked?

1. Because they’re trying to convince the npcs that all is good and continue paying the slave tax whilst getting nothing back in return

3. Here’s a bigger question; why is it a problem if Sunak’s claims get fact checked?

   Surely if Sunak is speaking honestly about his tax cut claims any fact checker would find this out in the process of checking and be able to report it’s legit. If they’re not, well, then perhaps there’s something wrong with his claim and he should know about that.

4. By law he needs a screen hanging round his neck with live Community Notes calling out everything he says.

5. What we need is a law that any MP who says anything false while in parliament immediately gets expelled, it’s their job to be correct about things and they should face punishments for lying

6. Even if it was 100% true, my mortgage went up by £300 a month last year thanks to them, so that tax bribe would be gone in the first quarter.

11. Can we just ban politicians from using the word “average”? Mathematically, London completely screws the real world statistics for the whole of the UK – take away the couple of dozen billionaires here and watch the “average” fucking plummet

    He can’t even bullshit right, what a clown.

    He was obviously supposed to use ambiguous phrasing so it could be claimed afterwards he was referring to the cumulative effect of both cuts. But instead he straightforwardly lied in black and white, with no wiggle room for interpretation, by explicitly stating that ‘the second cut is worth £900’.

    And then his team *still* followed up with the planned ‘clarification’ even though it directly contradicted his statement.

    It’s mind-blowing that someone can be responsible for running the country, while him and his team are so staggeringly incompetent at everything.

13. I’ve not dug into the why yet, but I’ve paid more tax this money than last (with the same pay etc.).

14. Because like anything you hear from the mouth of a Tory, you should NEVER trust ANYTHING they say at face value. Shenanigans (or just outright bare faced corruption) are usually afoot.

17. Probably because we don’t know how much it will be in practice as alterations to the tax system alters what people do. Pretty much anyone could take a punt at it and be almost impossible to prove wrong.

21. It ‘keeps getting fact checked’ = people keep adding Community Notes to tweets about it. CN are no man’s land, the metric for getting one approved isn’t based on verifiable fact.
