  7. Insulting a judge is a great way to get them to not like you. Keep in mind, if you do ever appeal a decision, the appellate judges will give a great deference to the trial court judge so if you want a shot, don’t insult the judge.

  8. Reminder that he’s free to say what he wants about the judge outside of the courtroom. It’s not part of the gag order.

    That said, it’s a dumbass move because the judge is going to make a LOT of subjective decisions during this trial, such as sustaining/overruling objections and deciding on his sentence if he’s found guilty.

    Trump’s defense lawyers should be reminding him that they need to stay on the judge’s “good” side in order to help them to win this trial.

    I still don’t think Trump will abide by this, out of hubris or obstinacy, impulsivity or all three – and at that point, I think Merchan is well within appeal-proof territory to throw his ass in jail.
