  1. Alexander I of Yugoslavia. While still crown prince, after the second Balkan war and the Serbian conquest of Macedonia, during a visit to Skopje he was greeted by a crowd. He asked one young girl « What are you » to which she replied « Bulgarian »; the prince slapped her.

  2. Technically George V of Britain was euthanised in the 1930s

  3. As a german I’m missing Wilhelm II.

He got away way to easy.

  4. “Every single Aleksandar who ruled in Serbia was assassinated”

Quote by president of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić

  5. You could argue that Tzar Boris III of Bulgaria was poisoned in 1943 and should therefore be the “last” regicide in this list.

  6. Carlos and George with some very nice moustaches. Alex’s ‘stache is average.

  7. Monarchs are such an outdated concept. And there are no people more ridiculous than their fans.

  8. King Aleksandar and his dream of Yugoslavia that failed and ultimately lead to genocide of his own people. Too bad he didn’t learn anything from his father.

  9. There are reports that George V died in January of 1936 because his physician, Lord Bertrand Dawson, administered a lethal dose of morphine and cocaine to the king. Due to his condition, King’s death was imminent, but technically this was not voluntary euthanasia (assisted suicide) but regicide.

  10. Being a monarch with a mustache seems hazardous for your health.

  11. The most recent regicides* nothing to say about future ones _mate_

  12. Such a tragedy… Long prosper the remaining thrones!

  13. What about Archduke Franz Ferdinand? Maybe the most famous regicide and maybe the most well known murder in history?

  14. The previous Spanish king killed his brother the legitimate heir to the throne when they were kids. So, you could count that one. Albeit, he was still not crowned king.
