I’m sorry but across the UK we should make mask wearing indoors mandatory again. I still wear one at supermarkets, and I look the odd one out!
That should at least be the first step, oh and working from home if you can. If your company supports facilities for home working, fucking do it. All this you have to be in the workplace nonsense, no, Teams and Zoom exist, use it and allow people who want to and can do, to work from home.
2 simple moves to help limit contact and stop the spread within indoors.
Edit – lol, I get it, no one wants masks back, no one wants working from home, no one wants anything but fully back to how life was before covid as it pretty much is now. Well we got that, everyone happy now lol 😉
Who cares? Everyone at even a tiny risk has had at least two vaccines if they wanted them.
We’re back to normal and only a minority seem to want a return to tighter measures.
If you want another lockdown, lock yourself down this time.
If we are going to return to normal life in the future, the vast majority of people will be repeatedly exposed to the virus. The world doesn’t have the political will to eradicate COVID, and vaccine-induced herd immunity seems to be unachievable after the emergence of Delta.
Temporary measures only serve to delay everyone getting exposed. So what would be the benefit of this delay?
In the past the benefit was clear: people will get a chance to get the vaccine so they won’t have to face the virus without having any immunity. Also, in some countries now we need to curb the spread so the healthcare system doesn’t get overwhelmed. This is also a very good reason, but it doesn’t seem to apply to the UK at the moment.
Another reason could be waiting for some improvement in pharmaceuticals, like variant-specific vaccines or antiviral treatments. This could be a good reason but is far from obvious, and most people don’t seem to think that this is the goal. Though if someone held that position, I wouldn’t say that they are necessarily wrong. I suppose one could also want to wait for the vaccines to be approved for all children.
I don’t see any other good reasons.
To arrive at that argument, one must reject the core premise that vaccinations will provide the protection required from severe illness & death from COVID and instead form the view that vaccinations are ineffective and other more cruder measures are needed.
Most deaths are the unvaccinated. These people had a chance and blew it.
Cases are mainly Children at school and parents who are unvaccinated.
The UK is doing fine, we’re out of lockdown and enjoying life. If people choose to put themselves at risk, that is their problem.
