Contrast of Killarney to a walled off small piece of forest in Beara.
This lad’s book was very mediocre and vague and his background in ecological conservation is purely in the ‘I did my own research’ zone.
I’ve no doubt that he, by now, knows a great deal more than you or I – but this is at least the second or third piece I’ve read from him where he takes solid aim at Ireland’s park services while casually mentioning his own area (and book, from all good stockists) as being the example to follow.
Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t, but I’d prefer if someone else was saying it instead of himself. Again.
overgrazing will be the death of our remaining native woodlands. all the regeneration the greens talk about, particularly in relation to the new national park, will mean nothing if they don’t act on grazing of non-native species. The Greens and FF in particular have made such a shite show of our natural heritage in their term
A lot of fencing and more deer removal needed
Can anyone tell me how many deer species are in Ireland and how many are actually native?
