PPP is a load of shit to begin with. Not reflective of anything real. Lithuanian salaries are a third of Germany. 1/3. Yet consumer prices are almost identical. Now that’s insane, yes, we suffer everyday under 21% VAT and massive inflation. Yet despite this, PPP shows Lithuania as relatively close to Germany, about 60%. Odd since actual facts on the ground dispute this. The idea that anyone in Lithuania outside of the tiny 5% middle and upper class has ever seen, spent or felt a lifestyle of $45k a year is laughable. And most people who have that yearly wage, lifestyle or spending power are thieves from the 90s privitization or their children.
Minimum wage in Germany €1584 per month. Minimum wage in Lithuania €518. Yet food and consumer products cost the same, or even more in Lithuania. Bars cost the same. Restaurants cost the same. Rent is cheaper nominally in Lithuania, but not as percentage of income. And inflation isn’t abating in Lithuania, nor is real estate prices which increased nationally by 14% just last year alone and has doubled in the last 5 years, despite average salaries not doubling.
