No, they should have better rights and protections that cater to the individual species.
And we need to include animal care, welfare and behaviour in school curriculums to keep people safer and animals happier. We live in a world where we are 1 of millions of species, we need to teach our kids how to live alongside the others they’re most likely to encounter.

rights come with responsibilities and how is an dog, snake or goldfish meant to carry out these responsibilities
The two biggest issues to pushing through this sort of thing will be the need for habitat protection and restrictions on farming processes. Both impact on human economic activity so will be opposed vehemently by certain portions of society.
