  1. >The IWDG have written to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney, to express concern over the potential impact on whales and dolphins of the proposed military exercise off southwest Ireland.

    >Military exercises, especially the use of active sonar, are known to have a potentially huge impact on marine mammals, especially deep-diving species. There has been a number of well documented effects on a range of species including mass strandings of rare beaked whales to evasive behaviour and increased dive times during controlled exposure trials.

    >We are especially concerned as the slopes off the southwest including Goban Spur/Whittard Canyon are known to be important habitats for a range of deep-diving species…

  2. I never thought of whales or dolphins in the context of this, I was more of the poor fish, trawler type thinking.

Putin, yeah, fucc off vlad. We’ve plenty of stones to throw at ya.

  3. The GIUK gap is filled with subs and vessels everyday of the year, thats the main choke point for the NATO in the North Atlantic and it’s off Donegals coast. The dolphins and whales never spoke up about that but this one off event they have a problem with.

  4. Hopefully they raise their concerns to the minister of foreign affairs about nato ships using sonar in Irish waters but we all know that will
    Never happen
