  1. From experience I’d say München and area around it has superior transport comparing to greater Helsinki area. I have lived in both.

  2. How the hell is LA in there? At least it’s below Delhi which says a lot of the traffic.

  3. Dubai being in there already says a lot about the list being made up.

  4. Biggest fucking bullshit I have seen in recent years. As someone who basically lives between Finland and Japan because of business, I know very well that any Japanese city has better public transportation than Helsinki.

In Helsinki busses are late more often than not, the trains at least run on time more often, but they get cancelled or are late if there is 1 snowflake. In Osaka and Tokyo and other Japanese cities the busses work like clockwork and the trains are always on time. It’s true that in Japan the trains are cancelled more than here because people off themselves by jumping in front of a moving train, but at least I can trust that the bus will be on the stop when it needs to be in case someone ruined the trains for the next 30 minutes.

  5. Hong Kong on the top spot might be correct, but the rest are completely inaccurate. Helsinki public transit is good for its size, but it’s not amazing on a global scale

  6. I am so sick of these made up list, same as the “Happiest countries” list

Anyone with a functional brain would know that you could manipulate data and get the results you want, in this case there is no way that Japan is below Oslo and Helsinki

  7. I have no idea why Stockholm is higher than Helsinki. Sure they have more routes, it’s a bigger city. But the public transit app (SL app) is so archaic compared to what’s in Helsinki or Oslo.

  8. i live in london, and have visited helsinki multiple times, london is much better, busses are on time and frequent most of the time, and the oyster system means that everyone who gets on a bus paid for it, also means they wont get away with crimes on the busses, seats were also more comfortable.

the random ticket inspections and needing an app just seemed a little archaic, and easy to fool in helsinki, but in london, anyone with a credit card, or oyster card can just tap the pad to pay, and get on, when leaving just walk off. also busses in london hold more people and are so much cheaper, less that a pound to ride for an hour.

some one else said london had better public transport than all the cities they visited above it, and while helsinki is the only one i’ve been too, i’m inclined to agree.

oh and its free for students

  9. How tf is it even possible for helsinki to be at 5th rank? We don’t even have a 24/7 metro

  10. Honestly I think Berlin, London and Munich should all be above

They have a lot of public transport but have made the maps of them clear and easily understandable. Helsinki? Definetly not as good
