Potato consumption per capita (2016*)

  1. Does drinking vodka count as potato consumption or is everyone in Belarus really eating almost half a kg potatoes every day?

  2. It’s hard to believe that per capita consumption of spuds in Ireland is lower than in Belgium and the Netherlands. But of course Belgium has “frites”

  3. When my family emigrated to the UK from Ireland I spent the next 20 years in the UK being called a “spud munching mick” (potato eating Irishman) by school friends & work colleagues, spud muncher became my nickname for the next 15 after “mick” became a derogatory term sometime in the 1990’s. So my UK friends…….or should I say you spud munching brexiters….. I think it is a time for an apology!

  4. Another statistic where our Turkish- and Arabic rooted citizens drag us down. Dudes, if you can’t help us with the alcohol leaderboard, at least eat some potatoes!

  5. Good to know. Now i have a map for my polish an russian neigbhors, after we had some Drinks together and they call me German potato.

  6. Belarus is the new Ireland.

Also, curious about the stark contrast between Bosnia-Herzegowina and its neighbors. Are national cuisines that different, or is it a matter of poverty?
