So saving 90-year-olds, in other words?

  2. Taking into account that around 22% of them are not on the ICU at all because of Covid-19 and in relation to the total population or just the unvaccinated population, it is not much at all.

  3. > The other 931 (97%) were unvaccinated

    O M F G

Isn’t that enough to force people (or at least those high risk groups) to get vaccinated? I mean, it’s obvious they are mentally not capable to decide for themselves.

  4. The SO of my mom is one of the rare people that were in the ICU that was vaccinated. He is in his late 40s and got infected in early December. The only preexisting condition is his weight (overweight but not obese).

First, he didn’t know he had COVID and turned up to the hospital with chest pain. Turns out he had an infection and COVID. They test him, give him some meds, and then send him home.

Next day he was he got back his result. The biggest problem for him was fluid intake. He couldn’t eat or drink. So, he went back to the hospital because he was feeling worse and worse. They gave him some saline solution to hydrate him. But didn’t keep him in the hospital because of low capacity.

Two days later I, also COVID-positive at that point, brought him to the hospital. I was unable to go inside, so I didn’t know at the time. But he basically broke down shorty after going inside. Pretty quickly, he was moved into the ICU. Soon after, he was intubated. He nearly died. All because the hospital didn’t have the resources to keep him there earlier. All because some people are afraid of needles.

Now 1 1/2 months later, he’s finally home and I couldn’t be more grateful to all the doctors and nurses that cared for him.

After this, I have absolutely no understanding why anyone isn’t vaccinated. And frankly, I’m all for mandatory vaccination.

Reality is. When people chose to take on the risk of not being vaccinated, they don’t only risk their lives, they risk the lives of everybody around them. And that’s why your body your choice shouldn’t apply here. It’s the same with smoking.

Edit: Additional InfoHe was fully vaccinated but not boosted (2x Pfizer). We live in Solothurn and just before he got infected, they allowed people under 65 to get boosted. I checked the website when they changed the requirements, but it wasn’t updated yet, so I couldn’t sign us up to get boosted. Thought I would look at it a few weeks later. But we got infected, before I looked again. Now we all have to wait until April.

  5. My dad was vaccinated but compromised due to surgery and ended up dying from his unnecessary covid infection bc these fucking people refuse to vaccinate and let this thing run around like a fire. My sympathy is 0.
