Israel-Hamas ceasefire talks at a standstill? • FRANCE 24 English
now all this as the US Secretary of State Anthony blinkin is hiking up pressure on Hamas to accept the latest proposal for a ceasefire with Israel saying the time is now for an agreement those his words it appears though that the main key sticking point seems to remain that whether the deal will completely end Israel’s offensive as hamus continues to demand well we’re going to discuss the latest with our International Affairs addit ketan gorg sty who’s with me here on said um kavan feels like we’ve been saying this for a few days probably because we have the ceasefire talks still seem to be at a standstill don’t they yes because uh the comments coming out of Hamas officials don’t really give an optimistic view of the result of these talks they’ve said that uh their response is likely to be negative even though they haven’t really given an official response but they also insisted that that didn’t mean that the talks would stop that the talks would uh continue so maybe a glimmer of hope there but if you look back over the weeks that these talks have been taking place uh between Hamas Israel the Egyptians the qataris the Americans there have there have been some uh breakthroughs there has been some movement and there is this idea of a sort of ceasefire and uh hostage and prisoner swaps in stages and it seems that there is a general agreement over the first stage which would be a sort of six to 7 week ceasefire during which there would be about 30 hostages Rel East essentially women and the elderly in uh exchange for hundreds of Palestinian uh prisoners uh but the main sticking point really is looking forward what happens in the next stages because Hamas as you said is requesting that uh for them to release all of the remaining hostages they want a permanent ceasefire and they want all Israeli troops out of Gaza that is so far for the Israelis a complete non starter because Benyamin Netanyahu has said it over and over again they will not stop this war until they have destroyed a Hamas and for that they have to remain in Gaza so uh at the moment at least it doesn’t look like there is any sort of uh give either side and it seems that these two elements are really preventing this uh these talks from actually bringing out an agreement yeah Neto has been very clear hasn’t he he said the operational Raa will go ahead you know whatever happens at these talks absolutely and he repeated that while Anthony blinkin the US Secretary of State was in Israel meeting with Netanyahu and other Israeli officials and so really the Israeli government doubling down on this Rafa operation where we have to remind our viewers there are about 1.4 million Palestinians many of which used to live in the North sheltered in the south at the beginning of the War asked by the Israelis to go down to the South and are now possibly facing another military operation and that is why you’re seeing the Americans again through uh Anthony blinkin in Israel really doubling down on their opposition to that military offensive in Rafa Anthony blinkin saying there are other ways of defeating of dealing with Hamas that do not require a major military operation in Rafa and remember just about a month ago you had Joe Biden and the rest of the administration uh really coming out forcefully and saying if you go ahead with the rough operation if you don’t mind the situation uh the humanitarian situation don’t protect the civilians you will see consequences consequences uh being a change in policy uh from the United States towards Israel even though they didn’t give any of the details of what those changes might be uh so this is really what you’re seeing when when it comes to the pressure from the Americans the fact is Benyamin NYU also has pressure from within from the religious right that is holding his Coalition they have also been very clear if he ends the war without going into Rafa they are going to crumble his Coalition and so that’s where you see the two pressures from two different sides asking for two very different things there’s a third pressure isn’t there the US has also uh been asking for an improvement in humanitarian Aid there has been some improvement on Aid delivery that’s at least how the uh United States is seeing it Anthony blinkin calling it meaningful progress even though he did say that while this was a good sign still a lot needed to be done given the situation the dire humanitarian situation uh but there has been some movement on Wednesday the Israelis finally reopened the ARs Crossing why is that important because the ARs Crossing is in the north and that is where the humanitarian situation is the most uh dire and it’s the first time this Crossing has been reopened since the October 7th attack it’s also the closest to uh the port of ashdod where also uh the Israelis have said and uh the Americans say that there is an increased flow of international humanitarian Aid coming through that port and then going on uh to uh Gaza and uh finally Anthony blinkin was also touring Kum Shalom all of this is really an effort by Israeli officials to show The Americans that they have taken these concerns seriously and that they’re taking steps to ensure that more humanitarian Aid gets into Gaza that they are not blocking that humanitarian aid from going into Gaza uh so the Americans are taking these steps saying this is good but you need to do more the other real issue right now is okay once the aid gets in how does it get distributed how do you make sure that it gets to the people who actually need it the most that’s something that blinkin insisted on and and of course how do you protect the aid workers who are transferring uh that food uh we are about a month after the death of those seven workers from where central kitchen and that still is something that they want to pay attention to
Top US diplomat Antony Blinken has urged Hamas to accept a Gaza truce plan despite an Israeli warning that the army will keep fighting the Palestinian militant group after any ceasefire. It comes amid signs that the ongoing truce talks may be stalling, says France 24’s international affairs editor Kethevane Gorjestani.

So Hamas wants the same they had before they starting this war. They must have oxygen deficiency in those tunnels to be this delusional.
Probably because it’s an insufficient proposal being pitched by Blinken like he’s a cheap used car salesman. It has all hallmarks of a scam – best deal you’ll ever get, act fast, trust me, no need to read the fine print – that robs senior citizens of their life savings.
Can’t Israel just stop all the illegal settlements? Didn’t we all accept it illegal?
No Ceasefire
When will you people understand that Netanyahu doesn't want a ceasefire if he gets one then loses the election he's going to jail.
Why waste time Western media?! It is Khamassss’s mistake … imagine? They’re not accepting to release their prisoners in return of , well, nothing? 😂
After blinken left Israel they will again close the land crossing for sure.
USA can not be trusted.
Must not succumb to Blinken pressure what ever happens
Israel's "offer" is offensive. Permanent ceasefire. Not anything less on that. Israel has to permanently remove itself from Gaza AND the West Bank
Only permanent ceasefire
Hamas gives ground but Israel still has status prior to Oct 2023 ?
How can Israel negotiate with a party it vows to destroy? Why should Hamas give up any leverage it has, if it does not guarantee a permanent cease-fire, and survival of Hamas?
Israel Palestine war no Israel Hamas war
Suppling arms to kill and shamelessly talking about aids. It’s hilarious.
Is Blinken a Muslim? I don’t know ang got in to the problems in Judea & Samaria, apparently I just find out is not longer the West Bank ?
The open air prison seems more open now without any building standing , why the Palestinians complain? I have no idea 🤷, I am retiring to my beautiful lounge to watch a movie 🍿 in Australia going to church Sunday and praying for my soul be safe now !
Stop negotiating with terrorists.
Permanent ceasefire and total settlement. No war .
Maybe the deal is not taking place because none of the hostages are alive, and everybody is playing a double game to buy time!
Instead of focusing on a ceasefire to create a humanitarian corridor for civilians to leave the conflict zone and reduce casualties what if they attacked it from the other side and gave top Hamas commanders 48 hours of free passage to Qatar? I know there is a sense of justice in making them pay but the 2 biggest goals should be trying to reduce unnecessary civilian casualties and weaken Hamas enough that Fatah can take back over and start talking permanent 2 state peace, right?
Blinken: 'No delays, no excuses'
Israel and Hamas: 'Hold my beer'
Hamas won't agree to a ceasefire deal that doesn't ensure its survival.
Any ceasefire agreed, Israel unlikely to keep his word
Bibi N has literally stated on many occasions that he will invade Rafah come what may. Obviously, there can be no peace deal whilst this is the case.
That’s probably because the Zionist west wants everything very favorable to Israel and screw the Palestinian over like they been doing for decades
There was never going to be any kind of a deal with hamas.
There's an alphabet of choice for every deal which hamas is stringing everyone along with.
At the final reckoning hamas will pull delaying the final Israeli attack into Rafah.
It is inevitable that the IDF will go into Rafah and finish the job. Whatever approach Israel makes will be condemned by the world. Biden wants 6 weeks of R&R for hamas to regroup and rearm and at no stage of the negotiations has the hostages been a priority or mentioned, the likelihood of many hostages coming out alive is very slim as hamas have admitted to about forty hostages are dead.
You cannot make any deal with lunatics.
USA talks are very ambiguous. Israel has made it clear Israel will attack Rafah either way.
In this case hamas has no reason to accept this deal.
With Netanyahu being persistent about invading Rafah, who in their right mind would agree to a pause in atrocities until the hostages are released, knowing the atrocities would resume once the hostages are released? It is clear that Netanyahu and his cabinet want to eliminate the Palestinians, but the western powers that support him fail to acknowledge it.
How freemason n their donkey arrange the world 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Netanyahu with his toddler style behaviours
Stop with the either side. You say "either side" while you acknowledge Netanyahu has no intention of stopping no matter what.
Blinken lacks gravitas. I don't think anyone is taking him seriously, and certainly not the Chinese.
I think Netanyahu is scared to hell to go to Rafah.
The ISREAL LOBBY GROUP are in charge the ammunition factories have contracts to fulfill so no cease on the cards why do you think Netanyahu has been stalling.
No means say bye bye to Rafah
If you starts killing after 6 weeks pause, why in World there will there be agreement. Isreal knows it too.
Netanyahu doesn't want to stop military operations because of his political benefits. He is trying to survive his political career as long as possible. once the war is stopped, he has to resign and face a war criminal case. Very arrogant and the most dangerous war criminals in these decades. He still believes that the entire world is blind and dumb.
What's the point of those talks if netanyahu says that he will continue with the massacre in rafah.
Blame Hamas
