  1. From 1 March 1944, *Tone* was assigned to [commerce raiding in the Indian Ocean](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_Indian_Ocean_raid_(1944)). On 9 March, *Tone* sank the British freighter [*Behar*](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MV_Behar_(1943)&action=edit&redlink=1), taking aboard 108 survivors against orders. Of the survivors, 32 were disembarked as prisoners of war at Batavia. [Admiral](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Admiral) [Naomasa Sakonju](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naomasa_Sakonju) aboard the cruiser [*Aoba*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_cruiser_Aoba), ordered that the remaining prisoners be “disposed of”, and they were taken out to sea and beheaded. (Following the war, Sakonju was executed for [war crimes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_crime), including the murder of these prisoners, while the former commander of *Tone*, [Captain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_(naval)) [Haruo Mayazumi](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Haruo_Mayazumi&action=edit&redlink=1), was sentenced to seven years imprisonment).

    Just another ‘Fun Fact’.

  2. What on Earth was the IJN doing raiding in the Indian ocean in 1945?! Insane, and I would imagine those sailors knew it

  3. Look at the size of those explosions compared to the farmhouses! Completely absurd.
