Nobody else in NATO had heard anything from their intel officers but tiny Britain knows everything.
It’s laughable. The Secret Intelligence Service work wonders with not enough funding but the chances of them having a Russian asset that isn’t shared with the CIA or outranked by a CIA asset is highly unlikely.
Russia is a bully and a bad neighbour in Europe so we keep an eye on them but for the Americans they’re the old enemy.
I’d be surprised if Langley don’t know what Putin’s having for dinner before he does.
So if the Americans aren’t screaming imminent national collapse then it’s likely not a planned action or hasn’t been communicated beyond the highest tier of their forces.
Johnson has used this notion and quickly tried to posture himself as leading this ‘coalition of sanctions’ so he looks less like the lost, dithering, shamefaced wanking sock that he actually is.
He’s realised that looking tough at home with a foreign conflict works wonders for approval ratings. It’s the Thatcher, Falklands effect all over again.
Distract the plebs from the corruption and double standards at home by sending Liz Truss to pose on a tank and acting like a wannabe hard man.
Soon enough he’ll turn up at a barracks somewhere in body armour getting out of a helicopter and shaking hands trying to seem like he’s a masculine strong figure.

Lest we forget that talking up a war leads to one… Blair and WMD in Iraq?
We obviously have to resist Russian extension of control into Ukraine but for a man so obsessed with Churchill one would think Johnson would abide more by the man’s motto of ‘jaw jaw, not war war’
