I'm in an unfortunate position where I have been made redundant and I am on my 3 month gardening leave at the moment. I'm not German (EU citizen), and hence I wanted to register my unemployment while retraining/taking on courses for a change of careers.
However, I have a problem – on arbeitsagentur.de – I have registered as a job seeker, however, whenever I try to register as unemployed, I cannot procceed further as I am asked for eID documents, which I don't have.
The question I have is whether I need to apply for eID card for EEA citizens or is there a different way I can register my employment status with a regular passport?

You can also go in person to your local Agentur für Arbeit with your passport and a copy of your Anmeldung.
