‘General election now’: Sunak urged to call national poll after heavy losses

   So much copium only a few months before they have to call GE.

2. They will hold on until the last minute before calling one.

3. why would they call one? literally all they have right now is the power of government to dish out contracts to mates, prepare their parachutes in to cushty private sector jobs and continue abusing and killing off poor people/minorities. this is what they got in to government *for*. they won’t give that up so easily.

4. Go ahead and call their bluff. You may not win the same majority as BJ, but you’ll get a comfortable working majority. The boats have stopped, flights are taking off and inflation is down. A rate cut or two before polling day is icing on the cake. Do it!

   Then Labour can come in and make things even worse. Both main parties are mental

12. I have the feeling that Sunak will try to hold on to power for as long as possible. He’s only going to call an election when his party steps in, following a series of cabinet resignations. This is how he got into power, and it’ll most likely be how he goes too. He’s proven countless times that he has no ability to read the mood of either the country or his party.

13. The Tories will lose, and lose HARD

    We know it, they know it.

    So they are spending those time to set up deals for their future post-politics careers, like their pockets, line their donor’s pockets

    They want to delay a general election until the very last moment

    THEY WILL NOT CALL AN ELECTION WHEN **WE** WANT IT

    Why don’t people get this? Demanding an election is futile.

15. There’s still enough time to lay a LOT of landmines and loot and £uckton of “discretionary” budgets before they get booted.

18. The tories are bad but Labour will be a disaster.

    Starmer has publicly said that labour will allow small boat arrivals to claim asylum – currently prohibited – and the Rwanda scheme will be scrapped. 

    The levels of third world mass immigration under Labour – once again – will be eye watering. The numbers are going to absolutely skyrocket. 

    None of you who vote for labour can come crying about rents, housing or London crime in the coming years. You’re literally voting for it all to go to shit. 

19. I’m what you’d call an old one-nation Tory of the Edward Heath/John Major variety.

    This current Conservative government, and it’s immediate predecessors, are simply a waste of space. No direction, no real policies apart from hare-brained things like the Rwanda deportation scheme.

    Cameron was an average leader but since then it’s gone completely downhill. May reminded me of nothing more than an enthusiastic but incompetent deputy headmaster, Johnson is simply a corrupt thug, Truss is simply sociopathic, and Sunak acts like an alien who hasn’t quite figured out how humans are supposed to behave.

    I don’t think Labour are going to be that much better but the Conservative Party deserves to be ground into the dust for the damage they’ve done over the past decade, not least Brexit which was done simply because they valued destroying the UKIP vote over the fortunes of the nation as a whole.
