  1. Yeah no shit? You obviously have to campaign about domestic issue in an election. Doesn’t mean any less aid will be given since funding is already secured.

  2. The whole foreign policy theme is very sensitive to populist nonsense that trump spews out and it probably better to avoid it.

And well it would suck if the aid stops again but the first package lasted from February 2022 to the last delivery in December 2023. Even though the speed of aid decreased from summer.

It should be possible to keep aid up during the election session then work on another bill when (if he gets reelected) Biden a second term start.

  3. The only elections that were really influenced by foreign policy were 1968 (Vietnam) and 1980 (Iran).

This year the biggest influence will be Reproductive Rights.

  4. Choose wisely US-Americans! Maybe you should implement something which is open to more paties instead of 2 (demoncrats or repeatlicans)🥱

  5. Hope this is temporary. After the hopeful re-election, we better settle for Ukraine again.

  6. Joe biden is a foreign policy idiot so this isn’t surprising

  7. Why?
I know many Republicans who MAGA-leaning but have a real issue with Trump’s pro-Russia position.
Ukraine is an issue they have a fundamental problem with the crazies who have taken over the party.

Seems like a good wedge issue for Biden.

  8. They want to reduce attention because Ukraine isn’t doing very well lately and that will be interpreted as a Biden failure (when it isn’t entirely at all). On top of that Israel and our unwavering support for their genocide, these are two huge issues that will weigh heavy on voters minds.

  9. Probably the best idea ……. Quietly send all the Ammo and supplies Ukraine needs

There is no talking to republicans, they are openly rooting for Russia so no point

  10. Misleading headline.

The article is clear that Ukraine is still an issue he will focus on, it’s just not the primary campaigning point that they will use to appeal to the majority of americans.

  11. I see peoples comments on this, and I guess maybe I’m just straight up wrong on this. But I dont love this.

Obviously people care about domestic issues so he needs to highlight domestic policies. But I have always felt this war can be so easily tired to domestic issues. Assuming one is not afraid to talk tough.

It’s a historically adversial country illegally invading a smaller country to restrict their freedom. We show off American military technology dominance, while defending freedom (which is asked for by the majority of the population, unlike the middle east/west Asia), while reducing Russian and Chinese influence, while reminding Europe they still little bro status. That’s a lot of American pride right there.

More important is the philosophy. We have a growing authoritian problem in this country. You know whats attractive about authoritianism? The feeling of strength. Anecdotally, Trump being strong or biden being weak are two of the things a hear a lot when listening to people who are undecided but lean Trump.

If people want strength, remind them where strength comes from. Authoritian “powerhouses” like Russia are still weak when compared to actual strength. People want to restrict rights and live in alternate facts world. But that just breeds weakness, example Russias inability to dominate Ukraine.

Make it clear to people, If you want to punch way below your weigh class, if you think massive casualties is a sign of good operations, if you mistakenly think begging north Korea for weapons is power. Then vote for a would be authoritian.

But anyone serious knows America is the strongest country on earth, we can back that up on the battlefield. That strength comes from American ideals. That strength comes from science, cooperation, and freedom. If you want strength, thats the recipe.

  12. The aid that MAGA Republicans had blocked for several months was supposed to have signed been into law in September last year. So, this probably means no new Ukraine aid funding would be taken up until after the November elections — and, to be expected too, only if Biden wins.
