Ukrainian soldiers spreading fishing nets around their trenches to disrupt enemy FPV drones. This takes away some of their maneuverability in the final stage of approach, preventing them from flying straight into shelters.

  1. Guess this is how battlefields will look like from now on.

  2. Lots of talking of supplying Ukraine with big equipment, we should be shipping tonnes of scrim netting as well.

  3. and no sheds. the network also interferes with the mobility of enemy infantry.

the only negative is that it will not survive heavy shelling

  4. We should be able to develop a .22 cal device to auto locate and zap incoming drones…

  5. Lmao “We’re not battle moles anymore we’re battle spiders shooting web.”

It’s a meme how Russians accuse UA of having chemical warfare mosquitos etc.

  6. Great idea, flying fpv drones with a analogue signal you wouldn’t even see the nets there that fine. As a drone flyer myself even some tree branches you don’t see till its to late, ghost branches we call them. They wont have a chance seeing them nets.

  7. The men & women of Ukraine truly are HEROES! Their country will suffer for decades from what they have been forced to do to protect themselves against racist Russian regime. Sometimes, like in WW2, waiting to get into the battle against corrupt, power hungry dictators costs more lives & resources in the long run.

  8. This is actually the first good defence I think I’ve seen against some of these FPV drones

  9. looks like that will work and transparent and black hard to see through a drone cam.

almost looks like fog through a phone cam.

  10. Sadly we will see this on the russian side soon as well. And that’s an issue, as Ukraine is holding on due to drone superiority, these nets will take away that from UA, while russia will keep using arti and FABs.

Until that, I am happy every Ukrainian life saved by these.

  11. Basic is a great way to fight technology. Use that netting fired from game net shotguns and foul the props. Its an inexpensive AA, although it’s got to be at the ready with someone watching.

  12. There is also netting available that can reduce/block IR signatures.

Counting Coup Tactical on IG may still have the post up on his account.

  13. In WWI it was barbed wire. In today’s modern wars is fishing net. Wild.

  14. Should work well.

Tiny fragile spinning propellers are a drones weakest link and can be completely disabled with simple string.

  15. Shame they made this public- even a little opsec is an advantage

  16. battlefields are adapting more and more from the insect kingdom

  17. Thats a lot more intelligent way of handling enemy FPV drones than what russians have been doing with their cope cages.

  18. It ain’t stupid if it works. The modern battlefield is not developing as anyone expected though… that is for sure.
