  1. I like the BBC, but that article did nothing to explain WHY the Conservatives have lost so much lately.

In the US, the conservative have lost a HUGE amount of support thanks to their undoing of R vs W and the widespread attack on abortion rights nationally.

But, I can’t tell WHY the Conservatives in the UK are doing so badly. At least, not from that article.

Edit: Oops, I’m a dummy who can’t read properly. I still like the BBC, though.

  2. Maybe folks have figured out just how stupid Brexit was?

Populism shows its true colors to this generation.

  3. Russian troll farms fell down on the job or what here?

  4. And it’s about bloody time. Thank god the country is finally waking up. It took way too long for us to get to this point.

  5. They’ve not done much good for the past few years and have been hit by multiple scandals and chaos within their own party whilst the cost of living has been high and the NHS in a poor state. I don’t think Brexit itself is the main issue as some others might say because Boris Johnson won a big landslide in 2019 on a platform of delivering Brexit but it’s more the way they’ve handled it, we’ve had none of the promised great trade deals etc. Taxes are high, inflation has been high, interest rates have been high, no growth, the issue with thousands of asylum seekers coming across the channel and them being put in tax funded hotels and the tories being so stubborn with their Rwanda policy which is costing a lot of money and the Supreme Court declared it unlawful though still they persist. Their main accomplishments have been the vaccine rollout in 2020 (overshadowed by Partygate), support for Ukraine and I think the AUKUS pact was a good move given the threat of global security (and I hope more countries join Japan, South Korea etc. to strengthen our ties with allies in the region) but it’s hard for people to care about foreign policy when things are dire at home. Economic hardship has been shared globally given the chaos the world has been through since the beginning of the decade but the tories have responded to that with utter chaos and I don’t think they are fit to govern so it is no surprise that people want a change.

Edit: I think the vaccines may have been 2021 actually.

  6. As England is waking up and regretting Brexit and voting full right, several countries recently elected similar clowns. I fear the coming EU election is going to be depressing since the polls expect right parties are going to take the upper hand.

  7. Well it should be interesting to see how much conservatives lose come the general election.

  8. They were well aware that this would happen, and they’re well aware of the upcoming results of the general election as well. Hence they feel the pressure to pillage the country as much as possible within as short of a period of time as possible.

  9. How is this surprising, just look at thr demographic for that city. 😁

  10. Didn’t like everybody and their Mom tell these people this was going to happen?

  11. Hopefully these bastards will become as relevant as the Liberal Party became after 1922.

  12. It’s been so satisfying seeing the Conservatives be thoroughly destroyed over the past couple of days.

    It’s been 14 years.

  13. Remember Americans—a European conservative is a democrat here. No one is as politically right as our right outside of the Middle East

  14. The conservatives have committed political self destruction. From a landslide tory win to a land slide labour win. Johnson and truss were terrible…I think sunak isn’t too bad but all things are relative aren’t they.

  15. Our generation suffers from collective weakness, analysis paralysis. To make things just that much worse,, Brexit crippled them. We’re all stronger together. Look at the US. Strength in numbers.

  16. Not the annihilation they deserve. Labour need to get the vote out for the general.

  17. A.I. quote from Bannerman is absolutely awesome, and true. L’d mao.

  18. They’ll just run as Dems then and the DNC will back the shit outta them.

  19. Since this is worldnews the country should be in the title imo. However the image at least tells it without clicking.
