Right wing judge is corrupt. Is anyone surprised? I’m sure Clarence Thomas will make a statement in her defense any day now.

This is prosecutable for public servants in some states.
It’s would seem that all of the conservative judges are on the take. No one is suprised that they are for sale. They should all loose their jobs.

These judges are corrupt
If a judge is guilty of failure to disclose any gift with a value over 1000, then they should resign. If not they should be impeached and disbarred. Any claims of ignorance of the reporting requirements are irrelevant. If a judge can’t understand and follow a few simple workplace rules, how can we expect the judge to understand and rule on the vast and complex federal law? I don’t believe the a judge that violates the rules and the law should be allowed to rule on anything.
Cannon followed the rules. It is unseemly, and possibly unethical, but the punctillio of the law was met. I am all for jurists going to legal conference and maintaining familiarity with new legal theories, views on trends, reviews of their rulings, etc. Doctors are required to obtain continuing education credits to ensure they are keeping up with new findings. Judges, like doctors, make decisions that affect the life, work, and freedoms of many people. It is reasonable to expect them to keep up in their field.
Going to these industry funded conferences where only one side gets to present us not continuing education, it is lobbying. Who knows if the information presented is accurate and verifiable. The secrecy that surrounds these luxury conferences saysvthatbthey may not be all that honest. Continuing education seminars for doctors must meet completeness standards, accuracy standards, and ethical standards.
I would be for setting aside $12k to 18k a year for each federal judge to attend legal conferences, even speak at these conferences. A judge should not be beholden to an industry lobby because they paid for a judges conference. In addition, judges should be barred from going to closed conferences sponsored by think tanks, industry lobbies, and the like. The think tanks, lobbies, etc. can present at open conferences. Pharma companies do it all the time.
These private, industry sponsored conferences are designed to allow companies and industries to lobby judges. Lobbying is influencing. These companies and industries are trying to influence a judge to obtain more favorable, or less onerous, treatment at their hands. This is utterly unacceptable. A judge is required to be fair and impartial. All judges will say such seminars do not affect their partiality. They are lying.
Lobbying works. Do you think companies spend millions and millions on something that never works? Duh. Advertising works. Lobbying works. No one should be allowed to lobby a judge. It puts the average person at a disadvantage. We can’t lobby judges. We don’t have the millions. Our legal system is supposed to even the playing field. The only merits of the case decide the winner. Judges render a fair and impartial ruling and everyone moves on. If one litigant has a billion bucks and the other is a school teacher is irrelevant. The school teacher should prevail if her argument is the better and legally sound one.
Judges that have been tainted by industry lobbying are influenced to be predisposed to the companies side of the argument, or the think tanks side of the argument. This is corrosive to our legal system and to democracy. The Constitution begins with We the people”. Not we the corporations. Not we the uber-rich corporate owners. Equal in the eyes of the law is more than a slogan. It is the fundamental tenet of fairness that underlies the social fabric that supports our democracy.
Lobbyists should be barred from lobbying judges. This includes industry groups, astroturfed organizations, industry sponsored think tanks, etc. We can not expect judges to render impartial rulings if all they access is biased information, tautologies and corporate policy dressed up as academic findings.
