This is how we got our information in the 90’s. How many younger people can work out how to use it?
To be fair even when the internet started Ceefax was still faster than 28k dial-up!
I’ve always wondered why the time separation for the seconds was a / and not :
Can’t find Bamboozle 0/10
Was the best way of looking at the footy scores and league tables. Probably still better then the offers out today
Ceefax music is what the avengers play the hulk when they want him to chill…
Count Binface approves.
No click bait headlines or full page ads in sight
I’d always heard rumours that teletext was the place to book cheap holidays in school, despite none of us being holiday booking age.
Had to try 888 just to see, I`m not reopening my Facebook account, but I`m intrigued. I wonder if they have a Channel 4 teletext so we can play who wants to.. I mean Bamboozle. Man, so many hours passed on that
edit You just go back to TV mode , select CHannel; 4 then TT
Used to love using it, looking up football scores what’s on in the cinema and stuff
Ceefax actually started in the ludicrously early year of 1974. As a kid, I always assumed it was closely connected with the launch of the 1981 BBC Micro, as the graphics looked so similar, but nope – nearly a decade earlier!
Does anyone else who went to Butlins remember them having a customised version of this in the early 1990s with all the park information and activities on it? I think the background music was “always look on the bright side of life” too lol
