2. Yes, and? America was on track with Obama to thaw relations with Cuba and likely take over the key “friendly nation” role from Russia. Then came Trump who knocked that down and went hard on shunning them, essentially guaranteeing Cuba stayed connected to Russia.

   Those embargoes have made life very difficult on the island, which is already suffering under the stifling control of the ruling party – again, America could’ve changed that up with Raul had they not fallen for Trump.

   You have engineers and doctors trading in their careers to work in the service industry because they make more money catering to comparatively rich tourists who treat Cuba as some sort of messed up playground rather than respecting the local culture and history.

   The military controls most of the tourist industry and grandmothers worry about what kind of future their grand children will have.

   You are really so surprised that people in a desperate situation will grasp at whatever straws they can? This could’ve been avoided years ago by letting the past go and moving forward in positive relations.
