  1. Looks like Trump/Elon’s boy Erdogen isn’t doing so well. I wonder if Musk is still feeling good about giving him an assist in the last election.

  2. On the plus side, at least it’s the annualised figure 😬

  3. to battle inflation they change name of country from turkey to türkiye 🙂

  4. Yeah, well, the people voted for that so that’s what they get

  5. What happens when it hits 100%? Kebabs that cost 1 million?

  6. Erdoğan: Going great and as planned let me play around with interest rates to lose trust

  7. Well Germany (turkey 2), inflation is okay so it all balances out

  8. Did Erdogan try inviting more terrorists for official visits to reduce inflation?

  9. That probably explains his recent anti-Israel/pro-Palestine signaling.

“Don’t worry about how I am running our country into the ground, look rather at how strongly I stand against the boogeyman”

  10. Independent researcher ENAGROUP reports 12 months to April inflation in Turkey as 124,35%.

70% is what domestic researchers are allowed to say.

  11. Thank god they changed the name of the country. It was the biggest problem of the country

  12. And how do they battle it? Completely cut off more than 3% if your yearly exports to gain favor of fundamentalist Turks who for the most part doesn’t even live in Türkiye

  13. This wouldn’t have happened if Turkey’s election system was not an oddity.

I never understood why people living in overseas are allowed to vote for a country they don’t reside at.

They vote with their emotions favoring ideological factions when many people in Turkey vote with economical and social concerns in mind. Lot of the expats living in Germany are blue collar generation from Turkey living privileged lives in Europe, they can’t see the reality of living in Turkey.

Turkish blue collar people living in Turkey don’t drive Audis or Mercs like those Turks living in Europe, they can barely afford public transport. German citizen Turks voting for Turkey’s future is very unfair and it should stop.

These are all conservative voters feeding Erdogan’s AKP, without them Erdo wouldn’t be able to stay in power.

Lot of conservative Turks in Turkey already abandoned AKP.

Historically these people vote for economic and social stability, this demographic supported Ataturk’s CHP in 1930s that boosted Turkey from an impoverished country to one of the 20th fastest growing economies of the world pre WW2.

They don’t vote for left or right or religious or secular, they vote for who they think will bring stability, they abandoned Erdoğan long time ago, he is barely holding on to power using overseas votes.

I have no doubt he won’t win the next elections though, he already got smashed at recent local elections with a historical defeat.

  14. I don’t get what’s the news here, they had self created inflation for a few years now
