  1. UK was also trying to do something similar no? The companies refused and said they will exit if it was allowed or something. I forgot.

  2. I propose to install camera in police officer chiefs house. W never know, it may prevent abuse, terrorism and cocaine or other issues…

  3. I’ll have to go with “no” given the number of times in recent history where the police has blatently ignored the evidence they already had or had leaked personal information to right-wing terrorists.

  4. The UK wanted to ban encryption too, until they realised what nonsense that is.

  5. Only confirms once again that the officials in charge of “protecting” us are among the greatest threats to our freedom.

  6. yes and then criminals will suddenly stop using encryption. thats how things don’t work

  7. Off course: This is the way, they do it :
“Only pedos and terrorists want privacy! And you don’t look like a terrorist to me!”

  8. Police call for the end of the internet (won’t someone think of the children!!!!!)

  9. Give me names.

If these totalitarian assholes are pushing for this gross invasion of privacy they shouldn’t be exempt from it; they **MUST** be the ones this is tested on.

Come on, fuckwits, let’s tango. You got nothing to hide, right? What are you? Paedophiles?

  10. Trust the people enforcing the law to write it?

(just for the record I think that’s a very bad idea. We have separation of powers for a good reason)

  11. You cannot stop us from encrypting. EU technocrat hubris thinking they can stop encryption let alone AI. You cannot control Skynet.

  12. Same problems existed before encryption was a big thing available to the public. I see their view, I imagine it makes their work extremely difficult. But banning encryption will not make these problems disappear but it will make people’s privacy online disappear completely.

  13. Of course, it is always to protect the children from terrorists and cocaine.

So instead everyone shall be vulnerable to everything, eh?

  14. The wolves want to be let in into the sheep enclosure to “protect” them.

  15. EU needs to be reformed. When their main function is to regulate you can see retarded suggestions like this one. They are running out of things to regulate.

  16. Funnily enough I don’t think criminals care if encryption isn’t legal.

  17. Why not just ban crime? It will be about as effective.

  18. I can’t understate how bad of an idea banning encryption in chats is. Especially because it does literally nothing to stop encryption, all it does is make criminals use third party software tools to encrypt their messages and leave everyone else’s information out in the open. It’s as nonsensical as trying to ban HTTPS.

  19. Also to protect people from such horrors as internet banking and internet government systems, online shops, amazon, emails government’s can’t read, and the mother of the encryption itself, one and only, the horrible MATH.

Y’all shall be stuck in 1990, and you will like it!

But seriously, banning math is retarded. Thinking that you can have encryption with the back door, and the cybercriminals won’t find a way to fuck over all the internet backs and take billions is also retarded.

  20. So, law abiding citizen will be surveilled 24/7/365 and criminals keep encrypting because a misdemeanor is a drop in the bucket compared to safeguarding their illicit profits.

What exactly is the expected outcome of this?

  21. Grrrrr, Encryption! The root of child abuse, terrorism, drugs! These things definitely didn’t exist before encrypted chat apps!

  22. Interesting idea.

Let’s use it on the internet of all the EU police chiefs and their friends and families first for a year or so to see how it works out.

  23. Yeah sure, it’s always just to protect childrens…

  24. the famous one, for your safety, you will no longer have any freedoms

  25. As long as they promise a lack of encryption for themselves. Who cares about surveillance? The UK has surveillance everywhere, doesn’t stop criminals from being criminals. There’s even more crime than before. It doesn’t matter.

If you trust the government with your details, wake up. The government is not there when you need it, but they’re there when they need you. ALWAYS.

  26. unlock your door so police can check you are not doing anything ilegal at your home! lol

  27. So basically they want to be China or North Korea. Because the mass surveylance is what China and NK do to their populace.
