For those not in the loop. An asylum seeker who was on the sex offenders list in the UK essentially got in here. The British told us his history of sexual abuse and McEntee never made a record of it on our systems or done anything about it. The man was allowed wander off without being monitored. The guards haven’t an iota where he is in the country.

Michael seems to know more about what happens in the department of justice than Helen does.
He ripped her a new one in a working session a week or two ago and is how we know about the German/French government’s granting us ability to return asylum seekers but we didn’t.
This one however is going to damage them quite a bit.
The Department of Justice isn’t fit for purpose. It’s so important that it’s sufficiently resourced and properly managed and it’s just not.
Shur look the government can’t ~~solve the housing crisis~~ ~~reduce homelessness~~ ~~build houses~~ ~~reduce hospital waiting times~~ ~~keep staff in key areas like gardaí teachers, armed forces, nurses and doctors~~ ~~anything~~ catch sex offenders they were warned about ~~in any reasonable time frame~~ overnight
The fact that McEntee hasn’t had the good sense and grace to step aside for someone else without forcing her buddy Harris to actually fire her, tells you all you need to know about her. We haven’t had such an incompetent Minister for Justice since Doherty.
How has she not resigned yet? It’s diabolical.
It’s really scary that this has happened, also how many more sex offenders have entered the country or other dangerous people.

Christ on a bike, how much more of this shit do we have to take before someone with a notion takes over justice its beyond farcical at this stage and Ministers have gone for less.
Mr Varadkar said one far-right myth that has gained the most traction is that international-protection applicants are not vetted.
He said applicants have always been registered, photographed, and fingerprinted, and their information has been checked against European watchlists, adding that the checks had sometimes been criticised as “demeaning”.

This is about more then the Department of Justice than about McEntee (I’m no fan of McEntee either).
The mandarins in the department are fuckin her big time: they are leaking these stories to get her out and she’s being left high and dry. Harris was in that job and the same happened, Frances Fitz too. They still think they are fighting provos in the 1970s and haven’t moved on.
