  1. Out of doubt, out of dark, to the day’s rising

he rode singing in the sun, sword unsheathing.

    Hope he rekindled, and in hope ended;

over death, over dread, over doom lifted

out of loss, out of life, unto long glory.

    Hail Théoden King

  2. Go to the halls of your fathers great man. Who amongst them you shall feel no shame.

  3. *Ride Now!*

    *Ride Now!*

*Ride! Ride to the ruin and the world ending*

  4. RIP. Brilliant actor, his death scene in Lord of the Rings was the most fantastically acted I’ve ever seen.

  5. Literally just turned my head from watching him in The Responder to seeing breaking news he was dead.

  6. The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.

  7. The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the deep one last time. Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn

  8. “Take her sea Mr Murdoch. Let’s stretch her legs”.

    “And Rohan will answer”

  9. Crazy to think the first Jackson trilogy of film adaptations is over 2 decades old already
I know these will always get knocked by enthusiasts of the written work/literature.. but to me they are just great works of film, like a one-off (similar to the original sw trio)

And for what its worth, it actually helped me (I read, not much fiction though) get a foot in the door to reading some of Tolkien’s written works.

  10. Fuck thats a shame, the guy dominated every scene he was in, in lord of the rings

  11. I’ll always remember him as the narrator for Indian Hill Railway.

  12. His speech at the pelennor fields never fails to get a tear from me.

Rest easy in the halls of your fathers
