Poland begins work on $400m Belarus border wall

  1. It is a pity that this wall is being built in the center of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

    Such times.

  2. Perhaps unpopular opinion… But having a little coup there and pushing Lukashenko through a window would probably cost less and be more ecological… just saying 👀

  3. As a Pole… We really, really have better things to do with money than building a pointless fence. Like shutting down coal plants ASAP for example…

  4. Somehow there is always money when its used to make people more miserable, but when one wants to make people less miserable we can’t afford it.

  5. A waste of money that could have gone to processes needed for more effective migrant processing, BUT in this geopolitical context even I have to concede that more protection against Belarusian and Russian provocations are necessary.

  6. This wall is a huge money laundering scheme. The company that is going to build it has ties with Daniel Obajtek, an oligarch who governs Orlen – Polish state oil refiner and petrol retailer. The same company is also buying out small local press in many villages/towns/cities in order to spread government’s propaganda.

The same guy has also many corruption and nepotism scandals on his account. But he is being protected by the government as they own judges and prosecutors.

  7. “Tree felling will be limited to the minimum required. The wall itself will be built along the border road,” she said, adding that contractors will only make use of existing roads.

    good.
