Seems fair. I can only see 9 other countries marked – is Luxembourg the 10th?
That site is interesting. I noticed that, according to their measurement, the USA is the fifteenth most similar country to us, but we are the fourth most similar to the USA. The relationship seems to be very asymmetrical!
Yeah, I would say that’s bang on
Surprised Canada isn’t there over one of the Europeans.
I imagine sports, religion and neighbour countries influence change this .
Yeah to be fair, nailed it. Weirdly I also found Chile surprisingly home like in many ways, but maybe that’s because there was a Welsh bar in Valparaiso.
This feels like it’s quite flattering to the UK.
Maybe it’s a case of the grass always being greener but I’d expect life to be better for the average person in most of the blue countries on this map than it is for the average Brit.
Northern Europeans Prods and Pacific colonies, makes sense.
Similar in what sense? Food? Popular culture? Demographics? Green pastures? Sheep? James Corden? No context whatsoever.
Apart from the health service – every blue country here is good
Imagine a federation made up of just these countries. They could rule the world…
It might be controversial, but (by experience) personally I’d be putting Japan a lot higher than 58?
Unfortunately, the full list confirms that we are not, in fact, Chad
How is Norway anything like the UK? Norway has WHOLE ISLES dedicated to texmex food.

Come off it, Canada and the US are defo top 10 for brits.
Germany? That’s just bizarre.
I would’ve thought Canada would be in the top 10!
I think this is a good list to be honest; Belgium, Netherlands & Germany are solid choices for similarity in day to day lives, and while I can’t speak for Norway/Sweden as I’ve never visited, I’ve heard they’re also pretty close to us culturally. Germany is one I’ve really enjoyed personally when I’ve lived there, I adored it and never felt like it was hard to “fit in” or change anything I do etc.
Australia & New Zealand are quite self-explanatory, peoples from each country can move to the other and feel “at home” more quite quickly, with little culture shock, if any.
Also, I’m quite surprised about Canada not being within the top 10, but I guess it’s due to them being much more closer to the US than ourselves? Though I’ve heard the French speaking parts of the country are funnily enough very similar to the UK in terms of culture/day to day living etc 😀
This is insulting to Ireland. We Irish are very different to the Brits
In wonder why mini UK on the left doesn’t just join the kingdom, being so close and similar anyway.
I know it’s purely because it’s a Norwegian territory, but seeing Svalbard highlighted on a map of places similar to the UK makes me laugh.
Most dissimilar country – chad. Guess we’re the virgin then….or some sort of incest foursome….
I don’t think it took into account drunk and disorderly behavior when finding similarities.
How to trigger the Irish in one image.
I’m from the UK but live in NZ. There’s some similarities for sure. For example, town names. There’s Whitby, Cambridge, Eastbourne etc. here in NZ. We also celebrate the queens/kings birthday and several little villages will put up the Union Jack and all the frills for the duration.
Weather wise, we get snow, rain, wind..pretty similar….but with more sun overall
We also have a conservative government running shit into the ground now. They’ve been in less than 4 months and have already cut services for everyone but the rich.
We don’t have knife crime I guess. Nobody running round with swords n shit here.
