  1. Childhood memory unlocked!! But I think I’m more concerned with the “32 years” bit!

  2. Wow yeah, we used to tape kids shows at home and I’d rewatch them over and over and this was on it. Major memory unlocked.

  3. No, but core memory unlocked.

I find that old TV ads can be more evocative of an era than music, movies or shows because they’re so insidious at the time.

  4. I totally forgot about this but it’s definitely gonna be stuck in my head for the next 32 years

  5. Well it wasn’t going round in my head, but it is now!

  6. Wow there’s a core memory I never knew I had. What made you think of this OP?

  7. >for 32 years

    I’m sorry…WHAT!?

ETA: The timespan between now and this advert being on TV is the same as this advert being on TV and The Beatles first gig…strewth

  8. Why did you make me remember this? I forgot it existed. I used to love singing this song to my parents.

  9. No, but I immediately knew what it was when the ad started.

  10. It was for about 28 years, let’s see how long it sticks around this time.

  11. Absolute earworm. I loved this ad as a kid.

I remember when I got older downloading this, when you could just search for any old shit and there’d be a million websites hosting old theme tunes, as well as genuinely copyrighted music. It was like a HACK to add “mp3” to the end of any song title on a Google (or Jeeves) search.

This was one of my favourites so I put on my digital camera which had an mp3 player on it.

    Early Internet days were weird.

  12. This was a cover, a taxi that they repurposed, right? Some 60s garage band track!

  13. No, but now it’s switched me on. I’m a frakkin’ Cylon

  14. No, but I do the shake and vac to put the freshness back.

  15. And phew, he’s not even thought about putting it in the microwave

  16. Can’t say I’ve ever seen this one but the one that still plays in my head is that Colgate/Madness ad

    ‘Morning time and we’re awake…’
