It’s gonna take you more than 17h driving. Probably closer to 24h, due to traffic.
And to figure out things to visit, look at the atlas obscura.
Definitely Heidelberg… walk up to the castle and look out over the town. Take a detour down to Salzburg, Austria.
You should stop into Düsseldorf and drink some Veltin
Heidelberg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Schloss Neuschwanstein, München, Salzburg, Wien.
But I would rather see 1-3 things in calmness than try to hassle through everything. Enjoy your life. This range doesn’t seem long, but it will be a looott of traffic there. All of Europe is driving with Trucks and cars through Germany. It’s literally the center of Europe.
Munich, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Ulm, and Augsburg all have great things to see and are on or near your route.
Munich has numerous sights like a cathedral, gardens, and palaces like the Residenz. Heidelberg has a lovely castle and old town. Augsburg has a gold roofed town hall. Ulm has a huge cathedral. Mannheim has a gorgeous baroque palace and a pretty church.
If you detour a couple hours south you can see incredible scenic spots in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg: Bodensee, Allgäu, and the Black forest.
