Ukraine has “right to strike back” at Russia, UK foreign minister says amid new £3B aid package

UK Foreign Minister David Cameron promised an annual £3 billion (CAD$6.5 billion) of military aid for Ukraine in a new multi-year pledge on Thursday as the European country continues to fight its neighbour, Russia.

Speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Cameron said the support will come for “as long as it takes” in order to “show” Russian President Vladimir Putin they won’t stop, adding his hopes that the UK’s financial backing will set an example for other allies of Ukraine.

Cameron also said Ukrainians should be able to use British weapons in whatever way they please as they were “illegally invaded by Putin” and are “defending their country.”

“Russia has launched an attack into Ukraine and Ukraine absolutely has the right to strike back at Russia,” he told a reporter, adding that Ukraine has “the right” to use these weapons inside Russia.

During an interview on Friday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called Cameron’s statement “a direct escalation of tension” around the two-year spanning conflict.

  11. Russia can and should play the same game US and UK are playing, namely striking without showing your hand, they can do it in Eastern Europe, they can do it Europe itself, they can also do it Africa, and finally, they can do it in Asia

  12. Ukraine wont deeply attack russia. Ukraine cant even think of invading russia despite sharing a huge border with them. We all know what that would lead to, it would leave ukraone to the ultimate price of self destruction by russian retaliation. Russia needs this war to end, but they cant simply just go away, they needed this war to end with a gain and on their favor. But with the current military operation, they can only hold out in hope Ukraine suffer enough to sue for peace. But on the other hand, if ukraine is dumb enough to invade russia or endanger russian civilian in huge amount, it would give Putin a reasonable excuse to declare war on ukraine.

    This means a lot of things will change in the war front. By now, nato aids coming into Ukraine by air, land and sea has come in without challenges. As you know ukraine is very dependent on america and nato for weapons and economic aid and they get them undisturbed, but that will quickly change once russia declare war officially on Ukraine. Since Ukraine start it by invading or killing a huge number of russian civilian, russia will have an excuse to declare war and claim all zone belonging to Ukraine to become a warzone. That mean if any nato or america ship or plane is seen transporting weapons or aid to ukraine, they will be shot down and guess what, nato and america wont be able to do anything about it. Ukriane does not have a war ship to defend sea transportation nor do they have air force to defend air transportation, this would only lead to ukraine losing a huge aid package from nato and america. This would also spread Ukraine military line thinly since they gotta prioritize defending their shipment in order to receive weapons of war. But if they keeo getting blown up after entering ukraine warzone, then urkaine will not be able to have equipment to fight in the front line and this will put ukraine in a very big disadvantage, especially when it consider a big formal war. At this point, all the aids from america and nato is render useless since most if not all of it, will be become targets by russian navy and air force. Ukraine force will not be a military but instead a guerilla force and that is not going to win them the war against a nation that want to conquer, not occupy. This is proof why Ukraine decided to not declare war despite having reason to do so when they got attacked by russia. This should explain why america time to time would issue ukraine to not strike deeply into russia and killing russian civilian as retaliation. America know if Ukraine got themsleves in a formal war with russia, it would put americans lives who are transporting weapons and aids in danger. Where do i get my proof from? In world war 2, after nazi germany took contorl of france, they went to attack great britain and surrounding the island with U-Boat. What did they do to american ship lend lease aid that job is to send tanks, weapons and aid to British ally? The U-Boat destroyed american shipments and what did america do? They did nothing in response, so america can only hope british royal navy defend those ships from german U-Boat and the reason germany was able to attack american shipment is because america is sending aid to germany enemy in a stated warzone. So germany has every right to attack anything that can be use to help britain against germany, that should exolain why german U-Boat are notorious for attacking American ships and is a dangerous submarine that needed to be dealt with. In the end, japan attack america and it force us to enter the war to which we can now send our navy to attack german U boat and defend our own shipment after Germany declare war on us too.
    With this understanding, you should know why this is such a risky thing to do. Ukraine will not strike deeply into russia if they want to become helpless. Russia hated the aids america and nato is sending to ukraine because it is what prolonging the war by giving ukraine a chance to keep fighting. So this an excuse russia wants, this is why russia sometimes bomb civilian centers and kill Ukrainian civilians in order for Ukraine to retaliate emotionally and force themselves into an unwinnable war. Russia didnt know the military operation was going to become like this, putin didnt expect the outcome to be like this, so he is waiting for Ukraine to either sue for peace or create their own destruction by listening to britain.

  18. Foolish remarks from Russia, as territories in Ukraine are being forcefully encroached upon and striking into Russia have no other recourse. Moreover, Russia had bombarded Ukraine, resulting in the death of the innocents and likewise, Ukraine could reciprocate as well.

  30. Russia is on the verge of winning this proxy war with NATO. A defeat for NATO in the Ukraine will be the end of western hegemony which stood on western military superiority. The petrodollar, the source of America power is being abandoned by the BRICKS. Hense the utter panic in Washington.
    The Ukraine will lose this war and be left as a ruined rump state with Russia taking Odessa and landlocking the country. Thats the terrible price the Ukranian people will pay for getting played by the Washington regime.
