    incredibe book on French nuclear power in the 50’s, the french played up the spectacle of their nuclear program, basically treating it as “Divine redemption” for their failures in ww2, the anchor of their national sovereignty, some writers at the time compared the new Chinon and Marcoule sites to “the New Cathedrals”.

    also, I’ve starting using **Techno-political Regime” in common language, my god.

  11. Let’s be fair, nuclear weapons are useless if you surrender before you get to use them. That is the quandary France find themselves in..

  12. Except France has a little conundrum. The little glowing rocks France needs to run their nuclear plants aren’t anywhere to be found in the good old patrie. Russia has a lot of this shit, but I think France gets its rocks from Niger and other countries in the region. Problem is, Russia and China have been heavily involved in Africa these past 20 or so years, bribing and destabilising regime, putting France’s supply of rocks under threat.

    For energy independence, nuclear is not the answer, it’s just a crutch.
