  3. Ah, the good old M62 uniform. I served in 2005 and we were some of the last conscripts to wear this fugly thing. They could be turned inside out to show the snow camo on the other side, but a lot of them were so faded that it didn’t do much of a difference.

  4. A friend of mine crossed the border from Greece into Turkey in the 1980s. As he left Greece his passport was examined by an english-speaking soldier from Sydney, Australia doing his national service to retain his Greek nationality. On entering Turkey his passport was examined by a an english-speaking soldier from Melbourne, Australia doing his national service to retain his Turkish nationality.
