Well this was a bit of a fast moving story – he’s now got the nominations so it’ll be him vs Swinney, unless the SNP suits do some kind of subterfuge to keep him off the ballot in case he wins
However it does mean that no one can call Swinney’s win a coronation.
This is obviously ridiculous, if it was another MSP so they could actually be FM would be one thing, but this is just trolling at this point. More self-hurt from the party, they are literally doing everything to themselves, it’s seriously astounding

This guy does not expect to be elected. What he wants is to force a ‘campaign’ such that Swinney will have to set out his stall before he begins.
With no other candidates, Swinney doesn’t have to say anything and therefore we have no right to complain when he does … whatever.
An independent Scotland would of course have its own new system of national honours.
