On the door it says "The Coal Authority" along with danger of explosion and danger of asphyxiation.
I was trying to find details online, and can see from the NMRS website that there was once a Dysart Colliery and Lade Blanche Colliery, but both are pin pointed further to the north east than where this is located. Perhaps is part of one of those pits and was used to extract coal and load directly onto boats in the harbour.
Does anyone know what it is and what's down there?
