Once they arrive as teenagers, they’re kept captive and pimped out for sex.
With police struggling to stop this brutal trade, BBC correspondent Jean Mackenzie has spent two years travelling between Romania and the UK.
She uncovers why this industry is thriving, as she meets the girls being bought and sold.

To be honest, the video is barely understandable because what is presented is so out of the extraordinary. People are being taken, freed and retaken without us being told how each of these steps are even remotely possible. We understand that victims are being seduced at first, but then how do parents find them, take them back from drug dealers? And how can these traffickers strike again two years later, on the very same victim on top of that? We need more context because the contextual elements we get seem so foreign themselves.
This isn’t going to get nearly the same about of attention as the PM attending a bloody party during lockdown. People don’t have a cent of morality left.
Moreover UK has a terrible track record of persecuting crime against women. The authorities were complicit in burying reports on grooming gangs in the past.
Who buys childern in UK??!?
There is something really sinister about these kinds of crimes. On one hand people want to erase what it means to be woman, but on the other we have crimes like these, which get my blood to boil **specifically** because of whom they target.
Then the EU organization will run a corruption index, put Romania somewhere at the back, while UK will be the example of freedom and democracy.
My heart broke for the murdered girl and that poor father.
The Romanian police are inept, crooked bastards and I 100% bet they are being bribed under the table by the pedophile gangs. The laws are too lax. And the John eurocels in Western Europe need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of law.
